Description

American Bradley Fighting Vehicles (BFVs) sitting on the backs of large semi trailers in the Green Zone in Baghdad. The roles of the BFVs are to provide transport for troops to critical locations, provide fire support for operations those troops are involved in and destroy enemy tanks and other vehicles. BFVs are armed with a 25mm cannon, a 7.62 mm machine gun and a missile launcher with twin tubes. The green zone is a heavily guarded area in central Baghdad and its borders are marked by razor wire, chain link fences and reinforced and blast proof concrete slabs, as well as many check points. A number of Iraqi government officials, as well as civilians work and live within the Green Zone.
