Group portrait of members who took part in a RAAF Observers Course. Identified, left to right, back row: Kean, Langworthy, Dangerfield, Whiting, Dare, Stevenson, Stott. Middle row: Thomas, Henry, Robertson, Roberts, Howard, Sheridan, Dobson, Morris. Front row: Gotts, 401462 Pilot Officer (PO) Eric Hurlstone Renfree (later 83 Squadron RAF, lost on operations over Germany on 25 August 1942); PO Rowling (probably 401287 Flying Officer Percy William Rowling [lost on operations over Germany on 18 December 1943]); 400770 PO Murray James Baud; 401196 PO Oscar Gladwin Rowcroft (later 467 Squadron RAAF, lost on operations on 25 February 1943; PO Davis; 407339 PO Robert Maitland Rees, who enlisted on 14 September 1940 in Adelaide, SA. Flight Lieutenant Rees, 83 Squadron, RAF, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) in March 1943; 400416 Ronald George Mathams, (later killed in a flying accident on 31 October 1942 in the United Kingdom whilst serving with 97 Squadron, RAF).
