Description
Informal portrait of Edith and Jack Kurrle, with their two children, Lynette and Frank outside the farmhouse of their 300 acre dairy and pig farm situated approximately three kilometres from Korumburra. The Kurrle family took advantage of the availability of Italian prisoners of war (POW) as farm workers and used a number on their farm during the last two years of the Second World War. One such prisoner Adolfo Allaria (PWIM7134), a pastry cook in civilian life, made a small elaborate model house from plaster and composition and presented it on 8 February 1944 to Lynette and Frank as a keepsake of his time with the family.
