A32932 Corporal (Cpl) William Rex (Bill) Harrington, of West Ryde, NSW (left), crewman and door gunner with No 9 Squadron, is showing the ropes to his replacement A218240 Leading Aircraftman (LAC) Garry McCarthy, of Inverell, NSW, (right). Cpl Harrington and LAC McCarthy are discussing the Iroquois helicopter armaments at the helipad at Vung Tau. Cpl Harrington has had an exciting tour of duty; he has been involved in three forced landings, two machine gun fights with the Viet Cong (VC) and was later awarded the Air Force Medal (AFM) for his part in the Battle of Long Tan. Cpl Harrington was also a RAAF crewman in the Malayan Emergency.
