Studio portrait of 412187 Sergeant (Sgt) Geoffrey Albert Rich, No 32 Squadron, RAAF, of Goulburn, NSW. Sgt Rich enlisted in Sydney, NSW, on 22 June 1942. He was killed on 4 November 1942, aged 21, when his Lockheed Hudson aircraft (A16-173), crashed into Bong Bong Mountain near Dapto, NSW, as it was returning from a reconnaissance mission, investigating a report of an enemy submarine. The three other crew members, 401037 Flight Sergeant Bernard James 'Bluey' Hubbard, 406712 Sergeant (Sgt) Norman Baxter 'Nobby' Clark, and 408580 Sgt Joseph Hall Iredell were also killed.
