Description
Simple rectangular cotton flag, with seams on three edges and a hoist on the fourth. The field of the flag is decorated with the Chinese compass symbol, enclosing the characters for Calmness, Wealth, Courtesy and Happiness. External to the compass are the characters for Money, Victory, Devotion and ? The phrase at the upper centre refers to the military unit associated with the flag.
History / Summary
Related to the service of 53433 Pioneer Platoon Sergeant Colin George Evans, 1 Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment. Evan was born on 3 July 1935 and served in Vietnam from 5 June 1965 to 6 February 1966. Evans saw action in Operations Crimp, Hump and Marauder and recovered this flag from a village.
