History / Summary
This medal was awarded to 27086 Private Allan Edward Freeman for his service in Korea with 3 Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, between 27 January and 14 April 1954. His early return to Australia was due to illness. Born in Melbourne, Victoria, on 11 January 1928, he had previously served in Japan with the British Commonwealth Occupation Forces. After his discharge from the army in the mid 1950s Freeman changed his name to Peter Allan Johnston in March 1968.
