Two South Australian politicians, Mr Giles and Mr McLeay, together with Group Captain (Gp Capt) J Waddy, were visiting the RAAF base at Vung Tau. They were taken on a tour of inspection of the base by the Commanding Officer (CO) of the Vung Tau Contingent, O382 Gp Capt Horton Douglas Marsh, DFC, with the three unit CO’s. Identified, left to right; Gp Capt Marsh; Gp Capt Waddy; O33062 Wing Commander (Wing Cdr) Roy Stewart Royston, of East Malvern, Vic, CO No 9 Squadron; Mr Giles; O33200 Squadron Leader (Sqn Ldr) Anthony John (Tony) Fookes, of Camberwell, Vic, CO No 35 Squadron; Mr McLeavy; O4430 Sqn Ldr John Thomas Carter, AFC, CO of Base Support Flight.
