Studio portrait of 1089 Private (Pte) Harold Scott, 42nd Battalion, a school teacher of Laidley, Qld. Pte Scott enlisted on 6 January 1916 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Borda on 5 June 1916. He was promoted to Lance Corporal within his Battalion and was killed in action on 18 October 1917 at Passchendaele, Belgium aged 23 years. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Menin Gate at Ypres.
