Group portrait of the crew of HMAS Voyager (II) on the deck of the ship, whilst it is docked at the Royal Navy base in Hong Kong Harbour. Identified in the photograph is Able Seaman Photographer (ABPHOT) Richard John (Rick) Reynolds, behind the gun turret, leaning forward with his hands on his thighs. ABPHOT Reynolds had helped the photographer May Fong (Mei Fong ?) to set up the photograph. The commander of the ship is Captain Wells, probably seated directly behind the ship's crest which lists battle honours and operations. Many of these crew members, including then Leading Seaman Photographer (LAPHOT) Reynolds, were serving on HMAS Voyager on the night of 10 February 1964, when it sank as the result of a collision with HMAS Melbourne during exercises off Jervis Bay, southern NSW. LAPHOT Reynolds survived the sinking, however the disaster claimed the lives of 82 crew members of the Voyager.
