Square piece of wood autographed by members of 2/1 Pioneer Battalion at Milne Bay on 30 May 1943. The following names and phrases have been deciphered: NX34898 Major Charles Geoffrey Williams; 'DATE WHO CARES!'; 'PLATES MILNE BAY MK II'; NX12484 Lieutenant Gordon Stanley Osborn; '1943 (I think)' NX18628 Private Thomas Mervyn Buckley; '1943 (We Hope)'; NX45328 Private Allan Kenneth Caban; '30 May '43 Perhaps'; NX69857 Private Percival John Steiner and NX24681 Private Neil Alfred Byron. A hole has been made through the top of the piece of wood and written on the back is 'Williams'.

Associated with the service of NX34898 Major Charles Geoffrey Williams, born 23 June 1911 in Wee Waa, NSW. Williams served with 2/1 Pioneer Battalion at Tobruk, Palestine, Milne Bay, Borneo and on the Kokoda Trail.
