Description
Australian army felt slouch hat with gold anodised aluminium 'The Australian Army' badge, khaki cotton pugaree and leather sweatband and chinstrap. The sweatband is marked in black texta '8254434 J.A LAKEY', while 'SOTG 637 ANZAC DAY 2006 AFGHANISTAN' appears in texta under the brim. There is a length of wire threaded through the proper right ventilators and under the sweatband, associated with its mounting on the bayonet (see REL35544.005).
History / Summary
Standard Australian slouch hat issued to Warrant Officer James Lakey and used as one of the components of the Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) Memorial Cenotaph for Anzac Day, 2006 in Afghanistan.
