Description
The result of a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) strike on a Centurion tank during a bunker assault on Operation Hermit Park. The tank, whose call sign was 5B (‘5 Bravo’), was from C Squadron, 1 Armoured Regiment, and was commanded by 312785 2nd Lieutenant Bruce Cameron. The RPG round struck the main gun barrel on the lower right side, penetrating at an angle for 150 mm (without entering the bore). ‘Splash’ fragments severely wounded the driver, 3798399 Trooper Peter Stanley Cadge, whose headphones are hanging on the driver’s vision block of the open hatch. Much of the canvas mantlet cover was burnt off. The gunner was 4721337 Trooper Kim Bayly and the operator, 4721405 Trooper ‘Bo’ Janic.
