Studio group portrait of Charles Orchard (left), Louis Dale Orchard (second from left), Albert Arthur Orchard (second from right) and Arthur William Orchard (right) wearing a Naval Cadet uniform. Louis Dale Orchard, later enlisted as 2028 Gunner on 27 August 1914, and served with 9th Battery, 3rd Field Artillery Brigade, before returning to Australia on 8 October 1918. Albert Arthur Orchard later enlisted as 2000 Bombardier on 27 August 1914 (later lieutenant), and served with the 10th Field Artillery Brigade. He was awarded the Military Cross for 'conspicious gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations against the Hindenburg Line south of Vendhuile on the night 27th/28th September 1918', before returning to Australia on 18 July 1919. Arthur William Orchard later enlisted as 2493 Private on 17 March 1915 and served with 7th Reinforcements, 12th Battalion. He died of wounds, aged 21, on 15 July 1917 in Belgium, and is buried in Dickebusch Cemetery.
