Road sign in arabic script 'Jerusalem'
Description
Round steel road sign painted blue/grey on one side with a 30mm white border. In the centre are arabic characters translating 'Jerusalem'. The sign has been dented by small arms fire on the lower right side. A vertical regangular shape in bare metal at the bottom of the sign, with two screw holes, show where it was originally attached to a pole. The back of the sign bears the remains of a white paint finish and is further marked in white 'WAR MUSEUM AUSTRALIA'.
History / Summary
This sign was collected by the Australian War Records Section in Palestine during the First World War. It was taken from a cross roads on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
