Group portrait of : Front Row (L to R): 414416 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) Reginald Keith Manttan, RAAF (wireless operator); Sergeant Tom Brown (flight engineer); 427836 Flt Sgt Leonard John Mongan, RAAF (air gunner). Back Row (L to R): Flying Officer (FO) Jack Smith (navigator); Pilot Officer (PO) Jack O'Sullivan (pilot); Flt Sgt Don Maclean, RAAF (air gunner); 415429 FO Desmond Noel Kehoe, RAAF (bomb aimer); Flt Sgt Manttan was killed in a flying accident on 14 March 1943, when the aircraft in which he was flying crashed into Saanich Inlet, north-west of Victoria, British Colombia. The aircraft involved in the accident was a Handley Page Hampden Mk 1 bomber, serial number P5433. Also killed in the same accident were 420343 PO Allan William John Hunt, RAAF, and J/22085 PO Grant Leroy Hall, RCAF. PO Hunt is buried in Saskatoon Cemetery, Flt Sgt Manttan and PO Hall are buried in Ottawa Memorial Cemetery. FO Kehoe was killed in action over Germany on 24 February 1945 and is buried in Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Kleve, Westphalia, Germany.
