During Operation Atherton, 2790913 Private (Pte) Graeme Colin Piltz, the signaller of 1 Platoon, A Company, 8RAR, pauses briefly beside a rubber tree while on a patrol out from Fire Support Base (FSB) Peggy in Area of Operations (AO) Zulu. In the background, another platoon member moves forward through the undergrowth. Operation Atherton, the battalion's first in Vietnam, is a reconnaissance and ambush operation in the northwest of the province. Pte Graeme Colin Piltz is carrying on his back a field radio, an entrenching tool, water bottles, pouches and a rolled up poncho. (This image has been published in Major A.
