Description
A building bearing the sign 'Dai Hoc Khoa Hoc' indicating that it is the University of Hue Medical School stands on one of the main intersections of the city on the south bank of the Perfume River. The building was erected as a hotel in 1901 and was converted into the university's medical school in 1957. In the lead-up to the 1968 Tet Offensive, the school was a centre of student agitation against the South Vietnamese government. The building continued to serve as the medical school until it reverted to a hotel in 1989 and, following extensive renovations, was relaunched as the Hotel Saigon Morin in 1997.
