Description
A member of D (Delta) Company, 8RAR (left), who may be 216790 Private Raymond James (Ray) Armstrong, and a Vietnamese Bushman Scout sit beside a field radio in a thicket of trees and bushes during Phase II of Operation Nudgee. The soldier is manning an M60 machinegun (not in view). Delta Company is taking part in the operation Nudgee in collaboration with B and C Companies and the US 2nd Infantry Brigade, 25th Infantry Division. The Americans are sweeping a large area in the central west of the province looking for the Viet Cong D440 Provincial Mobile Battalion, with D Company occupying a blocking position to the northeast of the Area of Operations.
