The APCs and members of the D&E Platoon had ambushed a party of over fifty Viet Cong on Route 328 on the southern outskirts of the abandoned village of Thua Tich, about 24 kilometres north east of the 1ATF base at Nui Dat. Eleven enemy personnel were killed and at least three wounded in the ambush.
