Description

3163 Brigadier C.M.I. ('Sandy') Pearson (centre), the Commander of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF), confers with 235254 Captain Thomas Henry (Tom) Arrowsmith (right), Commander of 2 Troop, B Squadron, 3 Cavalry Regiment, and another unidentified member of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps (RAAC) (left) on the morning after 2 Troop's Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and a section of the 1ATF Defence and Employment (D&E) Platoon had mounted a successful ambush. The APCs and members of the D&E Platoon had ambushed a party of over fifty Viet Cong on Route 328 on the southern outskirts of the abandoned village of Thua Tich, about 24 kilometres north east of the 1ATF base at Nui Dat. Eleven enemy personnel were killed and at least three wounded in the ambush.
