Description

Among troopers having breakfast and the Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) of 2 Troop, B Squadron, 3 Cavalry Regiment, the Troop Commander, 235254 Captain Thomas Henry (Tom) Arrowsmith (left), points out to 3163 Brigadier C.M.I. ('Sandy') Pearson, the Commander of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF), the site of a successful ambush the previous night. The APCs and a section of the 1ATF Defence and Employment Platoon had ambushed a party of over fifty Viet Cong on Route 328 on the southern outskirts of the abandoned village of Thua Tich, about 24 kilometres north east of the 1ATF base at Nui Dat. Eleven enemy personnel were killed and at least three wounded in the ambush.
