Description

A crew member of an Iroquois helicopter with call sign 376 from No. 9 Squadron RAAF leans well out the door and watches to see that the aircraft safely deposits on the ground a load of 44-gallon drums of fuel that it is carrying in a large underslung cargo net. The chopper is delivering the fuel to Night Defensive Position (NDP) Beverley, about 30 kilometres east of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) at Nui Dat. The fuel is to be used by engineers from 1 Field Squadron RAE to set fire to enemy rice padis and vegetable gardens as part of Operation Massey Harris, a food-denial operation.
