Description

During Operation Massey Harris, 3210 Brigadier William George Henderson (centre, right), the Commander of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF), discusses operational details with Brigadier General Burton, the Commander of the US 1st Cavalry Division. Accompanied by other officers, the two men are at Night Defensive Position (NDP) Beverley about 30 kilometres east of the 1ATF base at Nui Dat. In the background stands a Bell OH-13 Sioux ('Possum') helicopter of 161 (Independent) Reconnaissance Flight. Operation Massey Harris is a food-denial operation designed to search out and destroy secret enemy crops and vegetable gardens in the southeast corner of Phuoc Tuy province and the neighbouring southwest corner of Binh Tuy province.
