Description
Men of 5th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (5RAR) conducting an ambush, cordon and search of the Duc Thanh area at the Gallia rubber plantation. Phase 1 of Operation Bondi. Lieutenant Colonel Colin Khan, Commanding Officer, 5RAR, with the Duc Thanh District Chief, Major Tram Van Ngo and the United States (US) senior advisor Captain Robert P Heath. The inhabitants of the village were herded into a caged area and their homes were thoroughly searched by the Diggers of 5RAR. Twelve Vietcong (VC) were arrested after the search.
