215835 Lieutenant Ernest Patrick Chamberlain (right), Detachment 1st Division Intelligence Unit, makes a point during a conversation with a Viet Cong officer (centre) who has just surrendered under the Chieu Hoi program. The officer at left is a lieutenant of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN), who may be an interpreter. The Viet Cong officer, whose name was either Major Loc or Major Nguyen Van Nhuong, was the company commander of C2 Company of D445 Battalion. After he revealed the battalion's location in the east of the province, an extension to Operation Mundingburra was hastily mounted to try to trap the battalion, but the attempt proved unsuccessful.
