On the day before 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (6RAR), is due to depart from Vietnam, a soldier from D (Delta) Company raises a flag on a flagpole at a memorial service for members of the company who lost their lives during the battalion's tour of duty. Behind him soldiers from the company stand at attention on parade. A chaplain stands at extreme left, while next to him is the Company Commander, 6776 Major Harry Arthur Smith, MC. An important part of the ceremony involves the laying and dedication of a plaque inscribed with the names of the fallen, including those killed at the Battle of Long Tan.
