RA 6in MILS Mk 1 Protractor
Description
RA 6in MILS Mk 1 Protractor. A semi-circular clear plastic protractor marked in mils. Also marked on the protractor are various map scale references and an inch rule. At the apex of the instrument is the word 'MILS' in red, below which is 'PROTRACTOR, R.A. 6IN. MILS. MK.1.' and 'B-H-L' and 'O.S. 71619' and '6675-99 964-4868' which is a NATO Stock Number (NSN).
History / Summary
Apart from being a Royal Artillery protractor, the history of this particular instrument is unknown. Protractors were used by artillery units to make accurate calculations for the laying of guns and fall of shot.
