Description
A propaganda newspaper produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This item is written in Japanese and was distributed to Melanesia and the Netherlands East Indies. An English translation of the text is attached. This issue is dated 1 August 1943 and reports the death of Marquis Okubo Toshitake, the visit of Prime Minister Tojo to Siam, Malaya, the Netherlands East Indies and the Philippines, the Allied landing on New Georgia Island, the bombing of Japanese positions in the Solomon Islands as well as news of Japanese warships sunk off New Georgia Island. There is also coverage of the situation in Europe including the resignation of Mussolini; the Allied landing on Sicily and the difficulties faced by the Germans in Russia.
