Kôgun shôhei shokun: furyo no atsukai [Treatment of Japanese prisoners]
Description
A propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This leaflet is written in Japanese and was distributed to Melanesia and the Netherlands East Indies. An English translation of the text is attached. The message on the leaflet reassures that Japanese POWs are treated well by the Australians. It is argued that dying in vain would be an act of disloyalty to the Emperor. The message also encourages Japanese soldiers to surrender and to live for the future of Japan.
