Rae mo ochita [Lae has also fallen].
Description
A pictorial propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) and distributed to Lae and Melanesia during the Second World War. It is accompanied by an English translation of the text. The picture depicts the Allied landing in the Markham Valley, which was quickly followed by the capture of Lae on 16 September. The message discusses the retreat of the South Sea Detachment from near Port Moresby, which ended in its annihilation in the Buna-Gona area. The absolute superiority of the Allied Forces in both sky and sea is emphasised in the leaflet. The leaflet also states that the Japanese military leaders have decided to abandon the Southern regions beyond Java.
