Kome no kawarini imo [No rice, only taro].
Description
A propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This leaflet is written in Japanese and was distributed to Melanesia. It is accompanied by an English translation of the text. The message emphasises that the Japanese are short of food, ammunition, reinforcements, ships and aeroplanes to protect convoys, while the Allied Forces are well supplied with not only food and ammunition but also tobacco and medicine. The leaflet also refers to the inferior state of war industries of Japan, which the military clique has been hiding from Japanese soldiers and people. The English translation has a note instructing the pilots to distribute copies of the leaflet when the situation of the Japanese troops corresponds with the assertions made in the text.
