Kôgun shôhei ni tsugu [Officers and men of the Japanese Imperial Army!]
Description
A propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This leaflet is written in Japanese and was distributed to the Solomon Islands. It is accompanied by an English translation of the text. The message states that the Japanese Navy was actually defeated in the naval battles off the Solomon Islands and that the Japanese Army retreated from Kokoda, though the Japanese headquarters reported otherwise. It also mentions various successful campaigns by the Allied Forces in Russia, Europe and North Africa. The message reports that stock markets in both Osaka and Tokyo crashed on 16 November following the defeat in the naval battle off the Solomons.
