Studio portrait of 306 Private Charles Ackling, 3rd Battalion, of Randwick, NSW. Husband of Ethel Ackling, of Enfield, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Euripides (A14) on 20 October 1914. He died in France on 2 February 1917 of wounds received in action, aged 33. He is buried in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
