Danish Pattern 1854 socket bayonet
Description
Danish Pattern 1854 socket bayonet. The steel socket has a slot for attached to the rifle. The Khyl's spring lock is missing, but the attachment screw is intact. There are some illegible markings on the socket. The shoulder of the blade square and the blade itself is triangular with a shallow fuller on all three sides that run to the point.
History / Summary
The history of this bayonet is unknown. These bayonets were manufactured by Prussia and used by the rebel Danish Schleswig army in the War of 1864 between Denmark and Austrian-Prussian forces.
