Nihongun shôhei shokun [To officers and men of the Japanese forces].
Description
A propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This leaflet is written in Japanese and was distributed to Melanesia. It is accompanied by an English translation of the text. The message urges Japanese soldiers to surrender to the Allied Forces rather than to die of starvation or disease in the jungle. The leaflet includes an English message stating that the bearer has ceased resistance and should be treated in accordance with international law. The back page of the leaflet has a drawing of rice and curry, soup and a cake.
