Minami Taiheiyô Shûhô dai 31 gô [South Pacific Weekly No 31].
Description
A propaganda newspaper produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This item is written in Japanese and was distributed to Burma-Thailand, Sumatra, New Britain, New Ireland, Hollandia and the Finschhafen Area. An English translation of the text is attached. This issue covers events such as the campaign in Burma, the British air attack on Sumatra, the periodical bombing on Madang, Wewak, Rabaul and Kavieng and the capture of Cape Hopkins and Gasmata by the Allied Forces. It also reports that a 10-month-old Japanese baby and her 3-year-old brother were interned by the US Navy. The war situation in Europe and the sinking of German ships are also reported.
