Kôgun shôhei shokun (tôkô o unagasu chirashi) [To officers and men of the Imperial Japanese Army (surrender leaflet)].
Description
A propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This leaflet warns the Japanese solders that there is no way out of the hopeless situation and urges them to surrender rather than to die in vain. The message praises their fighting spirit so far and recommends them to surrender now in order to serve the future of Japan. The message guarantees that Japanese POWs will be treated well in accordance with the Geneva Convention. The leaflet also has an English message stating that the holder of the leaflet has ceased resistance and should be treated according to international law.
