Kitchen towel made from hessian sugar bag
Description
Kitchen towel made from hessian with edges bound with white cotton tape, and embroidered in red cotton in the top left corner, 'KiTChEN TOWEL'. A piece of paper sewn to the rear of the towel reads "Queensland kitchen towel no coupons made from sugar bag".
History / Summary
This towel was part of an exhibition mounted by the Country Women's Association of Queensland in Briabane demonstrating household items that could be made from material readily available without ration coupons during the Second World War. The exhibition toured Queensland agricultural shows.
