Description

The starboard side of the fuselage of a DAP Beaufort bomber aircraft at an unknown airfield, possibly Cairns. The aircraft is possibly coated with mustard gas residue after a test flight or after it has been decontaminated. The aircraft was used for testing the safety of flying a mustard gas contaminated plane and how much protective clothing and equipment was required by the crew. The tests were headed by 104057 Flight Officer Moira Lenore Shelton, chemist, from the 1st Field Trials Company, Royal Australian Engineers (RAE).
