Patriotic ring : Austria-Hungary and Germany
Description
Man's silver signet ring bearing on the front face an oval within which is a crown with the dates '1914' and '1915' on either side.Beneath is a wreath containing eight lightning bolts. On either side of the oval there is a portrait bust of Franz Joseph, Emperor of Austria and Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany. The ring is very worn and the detail of the crown and faces has been partially rubbed away.

Patriotic ring with the profiles of Emperor Franz Joseph of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany. Rings like this would have been worn to show support for the war and may have been sold to raise funds for the war effort. This ring belonged to an Austrian family who emigrated to Australia after the First World War.
