Design for a float
Description
A design for the AIF float which was for the occasion of HRH the Duke of Gloucester's visit to Sydney in 1938. It was designed for the RSL. It depicts a naked man on a large Rayner Hoff style horse, carrying a pennant reading 'A.I.F'. Various other service people are seated about the feet of the horse, including artillery, sailors, a nurse, infantry, pilots and engineers. The main arenas in which the Australians fought is on the banner on the bottom of the float, separated by the various unique colour patches of the AIF.
