Minami Taiheiyô Shûhô dai 19 gô [South Pacific Weekly No.32].
A propaganda newspaper produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This item is written in Japanese and was distributed to New Guinea, Aitape, Hollandia, the Finschhafen Area, Wewak and Truk Island. An English translation of the text is attached. Events covered by this issue include the current Sumo wrestling session, the death of Admiral Arima, the death of Admiral Koga, the capture of airfields in Aitape and Hollandia by the Allied Forces, the advance of Australian troops to Madang and Alexishafen, repeated air attacks on Wewak, Wakde and Hansa Bay, the heavy air raid on Truk and the war situation in Burma. The situation at the European front-line and the damage to Japanese shipping capacity are also discussed.
