Nihongun shôhei shokun [Treatment of Japanese prisoners of war - to officers and men of the Japanese Army].
Description
A propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This leaflet is written in Japanese and was distributed to Melanesia and the Netherlands East Indies. An English translation of the text is attached and states that prisoners of war should be treated in accordance with international law. The leaflet describes how well Japanese prisoners of war are treated at prisoner-of-war camps in Australia and urges Japanese soldiers to surrender with this leaflet in hand. The leaflet promises that prisoners of war will be provided with sufficient food, given adequate medical treatment and paid for working in the fields.
