Description
A propaganda newspaper produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. The item is written in Japanese and was distributed to Kyushu, Okinawa, the Philippines and Burma. An English translation of the text is attached. Major events covered by this issue include the resignation of Prime Minister Koiso and his Cabinet, the denunciation of the Soviet-Japanese Neutrality Pact, the landing of the American Forces on Okinawa and the air raids on ammunition factories in mainland Japan. It also reports on the mopping-up operation in the Philippines, the defeat of the Japanese in Burma and the inevitable collapse of the Nazi regime in Germany. The leaflet also includes a picture depicting an air attack by B-29s and the American troops waiting for an order to advance on a beach at Iwo Jima.
