Studio portrait of 477 Private (later Corporal) Arthur Warren, 2nd Battalion, of Woolwich, NSW. Son of William and Flora Warren. An assayer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Suffolk (A23) on 18 October 1914. In August 1916, he transferred to the 1st Machine Gun Company and was killed in action on 29 December 1916 in France, aged 27. He is buried in the A. I. F. Burial Ground Grass Lane, Flers, France.
