Description
"United Nations Field Office (UNFO). Baramulla, on the Jhelum River. Being close to Srinigar, the Baramula field station on the Indian side of the Cease Fire Line (CFL) was always classed as a "soft" posting for UN Milobs (Military Observers). Their office and quarters were located in this Kashmiri houseboat and their quarters were quite luxurious. The houseboat on the left was the "cook boat"." This image is from the collection of Captain Barrie Newman, Australian Army, serving in the State of Jammu and Kashmir with the United Nations Military Observer Group India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP).
