Studio portrait of VX89802 Private Desmond William Linehan, 57/60th Infantry Battalion, of Cobram, Victoria. A shop assistant prior to his enlistment in August 1942, he was later commissioned to the rank of Lieutenant. He was killed in action at Bougainville, aged 27, on 4 May 1945.
