Australian pattern machete in carrier: Second Lieutenant N H Weekes, 1 Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment
Description
Australian 'Bolo' pattern machete with rivetted laminated wood handle and 32 cm steel blade. Supplied with stitched and rivetted canvas duck sheath with brass throat reinforcement, sharpening stone pocket and US Army style belt loop and a cotton webbing keeper with snap fastener. The keeper is broken. The lower quarter of one side of the machete handle is also missing.

Related to the service of 1732646 Second Lieutenant Neil Harvey Weekes, who served in Vietnam with 1 Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment (1 RAR) from 17 March to 10 December 1968.
