An Iroquois helicopter of the 135th Assault Helicopter Company (135th AHC), United States Army, flies through clouds en route to a mission. RAN Helicopter Flight Vietnam ( RANHFV) is serving with the 135th Assault Helicopter Company (135th AHC), United States Army. Due to its integrated nature, the unit is designated an ‘experimental military unit', with the nickname EMU. The helicopters are flown in all weather, day and night. At night the aircraft fly without lights and without night vision goggles (unavailable in that era). The night flights are in support of troops of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) or the United States Army, resupplying ammunition, providing medevac support or doing pick ups of troops from the jungle and returning them to their base. It was frequent for crews to fly 200km to the Cambodian border or deep into the Mekong Delta for a day’s operations which went on until well after dark, and then to fly back to home base on completion. "Get the bloody job done" became the motto of EMU as it personified the unit's attitude towards their air mobile operations.
