Description

Crew members of an Iroquois helicopter of the 135th Assault Helicopter Company (135th AHC) prepare to take off on a mission. Left to right: R37030 Petty Officer Ronald Albert Hayes, 2nd Contingent, RAN Helicopter Flight Vietnam (RANHFV) (rear, standing on ground); Captain Bryant, 135th AHC; and 1516 Lieutenant Commander (Lt Cdr) Graham Roland ‘Zork’ Rohrsheim, Pilot, RANHFV and Executive Officer of 135th AHC, who is holding a an equipment log book. Lt Cdr Rohrsheim is a Command and Control (C and C) pilot of ten 'slicks' and four Taipan gunships. His role is to coordinate the 135th AHC aircraft carrying the troops, with the 'back seat' battalion commander directing from his aerial observation post. Always above the action, the C and C aircraft is frequently an opportune target for enemy fire. The armour plating at Lt Cdr Rohrsheim's shoulder slips forward to give added protection in flight. RANHFV is serving with the 135th Assault Helicopter Company (135th AHC), United States Army. Due to its integrated nature, the unit is designated an ‘experimental military unit', with the nickname EMU.
